Now We Know Why Uecker Was Scared

When I first heard that Bob Uecker had a stalker and she was a middle-aged woman, I didn't quite understand what the big deal was. Now I do.

Bob Uecker has a stalker. Kate loves Bob Uecker from his days as George Owens on Mr. Belvedere. Bill loves him as the announcer in Major League, particularly his description of Parkman's shimmy. And my dad loves Uecker because of his theory on catching the knuckleball, "wait for it to stop rolling and pick it up." I enjoy him because of his appearance on a Met broadcast earlier this year. Some crazy woman apparently loves the Uke for all those reason. He's seeking a restraining order against her. Uecker says Ann Ladd has been bothering him for six or seven years approaching him at ballparks, staying in the same hotel and sending packages to him at his homes. While not alleging that Ladd has ever threatened him, Uecker contends that her "pattern of harassment has escalated in both frequency and intensity." As evidence, he points to an incident last week in Pittsburgh, when Ladd approached him at a hotel pool and asked if she could wave to him. In letters to Uecker, Ladd has sought a few minutes with the announcer to discuss "two projects" that emphasize "humanitarian factors."
