The Best 5 Minutes of a 6-Hour Concert
The best part of the 12/12/12 concert other than the name (I love that date) and the money it raised for victims of Superstorm Sandy was this bit by Adam Sandler:
"The Mets have sucked since 86
Isiah tried to ruin the Knicks..."

Shoeless Coach
Ron Hunter the head basketball coach at IUPUI (short for Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis) or Oohey-Pooey coached a game against Oakland with no shoes.
Hunter was trying to raise awareness for Samaritan's Feet and get donations of 40,000 pairs of shoes for needy kids in Africa.
He chose 40,000 to honor the 40th anniversary of the death of Martin Luther King Jr.
Instead, Hunter got 110,000 pairs. A charity called Souls4Soles kicked in 40,000. Wal-Mart gave 25,000. Converse donated 15,000.
And IUPUI won the game.

A Giant Step
Former New York Giant lineman George Martin is walking coast-to-coast, from the George Washington Bridge to the Golden Gate Bridge, to try to raise $10 million for 9/11 first responders to help them with medical bills.
Martin has already raised $1.6 million and has pledges to match the amount raised in medical services.
Martin went home for the holidays but will resume his travels on January 2nd in Arkansas.

Happy Mother's Day
Once again many baseball players used pink bats and wore pink armbands to celebrate Mother's Day and raise awareness...and money for breast cancer research.
