I Just Watched a 7-Hour, 20-Inning Baseball Game

David Wright and Jason Bay are horrible. Bay to me represents everything I hate about the Mets. They get pressured by talk radio and the newspapers to sign mediocre free agents and they always come here and suck.

Francisco Rodriguez is another example. Two years and two blown saves in two of the most agonizing ways possible.

Jose Reyes's thyroid problem was definitely caused by HGH use and now that he is being regulated he sucks.

Seriously, why is it so hard to score against the other team's infielders?

Boy did LaRussa botch this game. Twice he let a pitcher hit while he still had a bench player. Then he let Ludwick run (presumably) with Pooh Holes up. They might have been able to win the game in the bottom of the 19th.

Wright, Bay and Francouer combined to go 1 for 20. Frenchy's average fell from .457 to .381 in this game.

This is the fourth longest game in Mets history and the longest one of my lifetime.

Manuel a little more desperate, bringing in Pelfrey. Why couldn't sucK-Rod pitch two innings?

On the bright side, the Mets won. The win isn't as important as avoiding a horrible loss.

And Mets pitchers gave up only 5 runs in the last 37 innings.

K-Rod's excuse was that he had dead arm, having gotten up and loose so many times, he estimated having thrown more than 100 pitches... which still comes back to Manuel... why have him get loose so often when you saw how that game was going?

And the fact that they could hit what was essentially batting practice at the end was embarrassing.

manuel is terrible.

Although I understand why they signed Bay I don't disagree that he is not a star player and probably not worth the money.

K-Rod was the best available closer, and he was signed for a short (relatively speaking) contract and is better than any other options they had coming off the 08 year.

But yes, generally speaking the entire team does blow. We'll see what happens today when maine gets lit up in the 3rd inning.

Mets shortstop Jose Reyes will be donating his bat, which drove in the winning run in the 20th inning Saturday, to the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

Just after the game ended, a Hall representative called the Mets, requesting either Reyes' bat or his spikes. Reyes chose to donate his lumber.

"That's pretty cool," he said.

It is not the only piece of Reyes' equipment sitting in Cooperstown. Eight years ago, the shortstop donated his bat after being named MVP of the Futures Game in Milwaukee.

Reyes has never been to the Hall of Fame, though he would like to make the trip soon.

"I want to go," he said. "Maybe this year, after the season."

Nah Juice it's true. Chase recorded a "Let's go Nuggets" chant for Freedo because Chase loves Amber and Carmelo Anthony and he'll repeat just about anything.
