TallSkott was Ahead of His Time

For years TallSkott dominated the scene at Rab's Bowling on the Green with his unique delivery. Placing only his thumb in the ball, he was able to generate ridiculous (but sometimes uncontrollable) spin on his ball.
Now a young Australian named Jason Belmonte is revolutionizing bowling with his own unique delivery, a variation of TallSkott's.

Do you mean TallSkott used just his fingers and no thumb? That's pretty typical these days. I can generate a ton of revs without your thumb. I've never seen anyone throw a ball with just the thumb. I think that's almost impossible. (btw, I'm an avid bowler but I use my fingers and thumb).

I think it's safe to say you've never seen anyone like TallSkott. I'm pretty sure he had his thumb in the ball, but none of his other phalanges.

His style was very inconsistent and sometimes balls that seemed destined to be strikes, ended up as gutterballs.

Also, his delivery left him so off-balance that (as JLeary describes) he'd often walk across the next four lanes with his finger in the air. And when he'd throw a gutterball he'd immediately change his posture, crouch down and put both hands on top of his head.

I've tried to emulate this part of his game while playing Wii Bowling but I walked into the couch.

I actually bowl the same way now using the Wii.

Aside - Dana and I went bowling on our first date. I happened to mention that my high score was 254 several (thousand times) before we actually went. Unfortunately for me, the lanes at Bowlmor were greasier than Janet's face, therefore I bowled like $hit in front of my future wife.

I'm with adubya...not possible with the thumb only. Scat used 2 fingers, and no thumb, right scat? I still can't believe how dominant he used to be.

The guy in this video is even crazier in my opinion, since it's basically a completely 2 handed delivery. Scat, while weird...was still using one hand.

There are several guys in my league that don't use their thumb (one handed) and are very good at it (210-220 averages). They struggle with spares when they have to put their thumb back in.

Two finger method was trademarked by me in 1997. Jayso, can I sue this turkey for infringement?
