News Flash: Coffee is Hot, Try Not to Spill

A Staten Island woman wants $10 million for being scalded by a cup of coffee.
Sharon Shea said she suffered second- and third-degree burns to her legs when two steaming cups of joe tumbled out of the carrier tray as she and a friend drove away from the Dunkin' Donuts parking lot on Forest Avenue.

Shea insists the coffee was too hot and the work- ers didn't fasten the lids tightly enough.

"The [drive-thru] girl had positioned them where they were in the same line [on the tray], they weren't cattycorner," said Shea, 60.

"Just as the car was about to stop, the coffee — those lids couldn't have been on tight, no way in the world — the coffee toppled over onto my leg, and right away I said, 'I'm dying, I'm dead!' "

It's at times like this, i want to join the mafia, just so someone can pay me to go and crack this lady in the face or something.

I was in a chinese restaurant one time, and a guy carrying super hot tea tripped, and dumped the water on me. I didn't sue the place, cuz it's just another little random story to tell one day. I take it as a plus.

This lady is just a douche, cuz she did it to herself and wants to make a buck.

I think if you give someone a sterile cup that is not large enough to fill the urine from a normal sized urination and they should be sued.

Dunkin Donuts Coffee is hot as fuck. The drive thru lady should have never put those two cups in a row. You can hand an unbalance try of scolding hot liquid to someone in a car. What was Dunkin Donuts thinking. My question is, did the drive thru lady warn of the hot coffee before this G_d Damn idiot who is suing dumped it all over herself

Why should the drive though person have to tell them its hot? Thats like going to Baskin Robbins, and the server saying "watch out, thats cold".
