No Longer My Favorite Gumbel

Two weeks after declaring him my favorite Gumbel, Bryant said this about the Winter Olympics:
"Count me among those who don't care about them and won't watch them. So try not to laugh when someone says these are the world's greatest athletes, despite a paucity of blacks that makes the Winter Games look like a GOP convention."

Imagine if a white broadcaster said this about the NBA:
"Count me among those who don't care about them and won't watch them. So try not to laugh when someone says these are the world's greatest athletes, despite a paucity of whites that makes the NBA look like a Jay-Z concert."

His ass would be fired immediately. There is a growing double standard in this country. White people are not allowed to talk about race. And it's only going to make our racial problems worse.

I still prefer him to Bob Costas though

When Bryant Gumbel started on the Today Show, everyone said he was "white chocolate", David Alan Grier was doing skits about him and since then he's been trying to prove his blackness ever since.

Real Sports is almost left wing propoganda. They do some nice Human Interest stuff and they ironically have Bernard Goldberg who literally wrote the book on liberal media bias.

In these polarizing times some liberal institutions are starting to lose their way and get away from the values of tolerance and freedom that is part of their history that made them part of the healthy dialogue of ideas in this country.

This, Cindy Sheehan throwing her support to the Insurgents and Ray Nagin's "chocolate city" comments are examples of such a trend.

And for the record, upon entering the skating arena after a transportation snafu. US Figure Skater Johnny Weir said he felt "black, inside".
