System Receiver

Frequently in college football you hear the term "system quarterback" for a quarterback, like Colt Brennan, who plays for a team that throws the ball 50 times a game, and therefore the QB can't help but put up huge numbers.
This year in college football we have a system wide receiver and he could shatter every receiving record there is.
Michael Crabtree of Texas Tech (which produced such great system quarterbacks as Kliff Kingsbury, BJ Symons, Sunny Cumbie and now Graham Harrell) is putting up incredible statistics. And he is only a freshman.
In 12 games, Crabtree has 125 catches, 1861 yards and 21 touchdowns. And he still has a Bowl game to play in.

But forgetting about the Bowl for a minute, if Crabtree can keep up this performance for 4 years, he would have 500 catches and 7444 yards for his career. The current records are 316 catches (Taylor Stubblefield) and 5005 yards (Trevor Insley).
Since Crabtree is 6'3" 222 pounds he has NFL size. So let's say he only plays 3 years.
That would mean he'd need to average 91 catches and 1573 yards over the next two seasons to set the records.

Some other records Crabtree could break:
Most touchdowns career: 50 (Troy Edwards)
Crabtree has 21, could break it by averaging 15 over 2 seaons or 10 over 3

Most 1,000 yard seasons: 3 (Many, Greg Jennings is the most recent)
If he stays could be the first with 4

Most 100 yard games: 26 (Trevor Insley)
Crabtree has 10, if he plays 4 years he'll smash this record

Most 200 yard games: 6 (Trevor Insley)
Crabtree has 2 (he also has 188 & 195)

Most games with a touchdown catch: 27 (Ryan Yarborough)
Crabtree has 10 (out of 12)

Michael Crabtree, best receiver ever?
