Retired Miami Heat guard Tim Hardaway said he hates gay people and that he wouldn't want a gay player on his team.
He said "You know, I hate gay people, so I let it be known. I don't like gay people and I don't like to be around gay people."
Hardaway made the comments while he was a guest on Dan LeBaturd's radio show in Miami.
The discussion was sparked after last week's announcement that John Amaechi is gay.
Hardaway said if he did find out that a teammate was gay, he would ask for the player to be traded or to be bought out of his contract because it would make other players feel uncomfortable in the locker room.
He later apologized for the remarks, saying he was sorry and should have never said anything.
That's exactly right, in this country you can be a homo-hater, a racist, an Anti-Semite, anything, but it's usually best to keep those comments to yourself.

I guess Nails and Hardaway will never be friends
How would Tim Hardaway like it if someone went on the radio and said "I hate black people! I'm a racist!"
Not too much, I bet.
What a dumbass.
Tim hardaway is a fucking retard.
Going back to the Amaechi thing which I am not sure I commented on---It was well known he was gay in college...the only reason it probably wasn't a big issue then was because there was virtually no internet. Secondly, anyone who has a problem with Amaechi making money off of his announcement is a fucking idiot. Thirdly, I will say today that John Amaechi will have changed professional sports forever with this announcement. Cuban was right...you could make a lot of money and be a hero to a lot of people and if you are anti-gay then you will lose a lot of money by being ostracized. It was never that way until now. Watch the athletes fall...not fast but they will come and they will be active players
It can't just be an active player. It needs to be a star. Amaechi was a bad ball player. So he can say that Sloan benched him cause he sucked dick, and Sloan can just say he sucked. A star needs to come out. Not necessarily a guy like A-Rod (who is gay), but a guy talented enough that if he doesn't play the reason why is obvious.
