It's Not About the Money
Interesting development in Major League Baseball. Paul Konerko re-signed with the White Sox for 5 years at $60m, turning down 5 for 65 from the Orioles. Then Brian Giles re-signed with the Padres for 3 years and $30m, reportedly less than the Blue Jays were offering. I guess that's a good sign. Why weren't the Mets interested in Giles? He would have been a great fit for right field.

The interest in Brian Giles was minimal as we didn't want to spend 10 million per year on a position where we could get similar numbers from what we have on our roster already sans a number of BB's per year. Giles is also 47 years old, and that didn't help with our evaluation.
That is a ridiculous post. Giles is not 47 and he is much better than your boy Victor Diaz.
Giles is actually going to be 35 between now and the beginning of next season. Beers, I mean Omar is wrong again. But he'll be 37 in the last year of his contract. That is pretty old, older than I thought he was. But I still think the Mets could have used his on base average and consistent clutch hitting.
