Teams are only taking expiring contracts to get under the cap. Who is going to trade a young cheap talent, for Penny Hardaway.
Let's think about the Rose trade, since they can't get under the cap next year, they traded an expiring contract for a more talented player (rose vs. Davis) and Rose's contract is up next year anyway.
As for Francis, I'll hold judgment until I see what else he does if anything, but b/c Marbury is untradeable, and his salary is greater than 50% of the cap in 07-08 and '08-09, I don't care who he brings in, as long as their contracts expire before or the same year as Marbury and now Francis' I'm good with it. I would like to see if he can get rid of Richardson or Crawford, b/c both contracts go past Marbury's and both are terrible.
Unfortunately, its all the other trades he makes I disagree with.
1. Thomas for Richardson. TERRIBLE. Thomas was the best player on the team. 2. Acquiring Curry was bad enough, giving up an unprotected draft pick was a cardinal sin. 3. The Nazr Mohammed trade made no sense, considering, he claimed he was the reason he claimed to have traded the Van Horn for Thomas deal. The fact that he got picks from SA, I guess made it ok. Essentially, Spreewell became Malik Rose and two bad SA draft picks. 4. I won't/can't get into Jerome James, especially since he then brought in Curry. 5. Crawford trade was bad, b/c they signed him to a long term deal and he's bad, not b/c he gave up anything I miss. 6. As for his draft ability, 2005 - Frye, 2004 no pick Marbury trade, 2003 - Sweetney good pick, but then traded him for fat curry.
The worst part of all of these moves, was that Chicago got rid of Curry and will have our lottery pick this year.
No one wants Marbury. Any team that takes him is going to give us a bigger problem, if that's possible. I think Master Bates has an idea. They should try to trade for 10 guys whose contracts expire in the same season. Then start over. Frye, Lee, Nate and Curry are I think a pretty good nucleus.
Frye played well. Nate can't shoot. Curry is good, but foul prone and lazy. Lee is the next Eric Anderson. Jerome James was laboring after 1 trip up the court.
Glad I am a Suns fan. (and I have jacket to prove it)

Larry never looks pleased. I have to think that the team is going to make a few more moves.
Has anybody figured out yet that they will be trading Marbury???

I hate the Knicks
